Waste Simmers exhibition Grondstoffenstation
'Recyclable Life Drawings'
Nice Flaps (Alejandra López and Annemarie Wadlow) meets the Afrikaanderwijk Coöperatie Grondstoffenstation for Waste Simmers (Kate Price)
In late 2025 drawing collective 'Nice Flaps' were invited to initiate an afternoon of Recyclable Life Drawing with us in Afrikaanderwijk. Responding to the waste streams of the Grondstoffenstation, participants assembled playful sculptural compositions from collected materials before launching into dynamic drawing sessions at Gemaal op Zuid that explored texture, form, and the quiet poetry of discarded things - materials being reassembled, rendered, and reimagined.
A live composition by Bas van der Wal Cheung accompanied our drawing, weaving recordings of the market and recycling station, to create an expansive soundscape.
Displayed now on the Grondstoffenstation facade is a collection of drawings made by participants during the session and photographs taken by Silvia Arenas, capturing their explorations.
