Campus Studio Programma
Vanaf april 2025 presenteert de Afrikaanderwijk Coöperatie voor de Cultuur & Campus Putselaan het Studio Programma ‘Samen leren voor een gedeelde en rechtvaardige stad’.
Het Studio Programma heeft 3 programmalijnen: Reading Room of the future, (Building) an Urban Union en a Station for Resources.

A Station for Resources #04: Re-positioning Urban Research
By Jiska Engelbert & the Cooperative Consultancy Buro
Recycle Resource Station/Grondstoffenstation, Afrikaanderplein 1
EN _ Universities increasingly pursue "impact" by having researchers and students solve local problems through community participation in academic research. In Rotterdam, Erasmus University's strategy of "creating positive societal impact" is often focused on Rotterdam Zuid. During this Open Air Class we will reflect and report on the critical interventions of our “non-project” Re-position. Re-position brings together members of the Afrikaanderwijk Cooperative and researchers from the university, creatively mirroring scientific procedures; peer review, reliability measures, ethics boards, to contest and reimagine power relationships between universities and local communities.
This Open Air class at Grondstoffenstation as part of HNI's After Summer School is part of the 'Collective Learning for a Shared and Just City Campus Studio Programme', and concludes with shared lunch prepared by Rita Balde.
Sunday sept 7th, 15:00-18:30h
Living Breathing Spaces no. I – a product of collective hearts
By Dorota Matejová
With Music and Poetry by: Lucija Gregov, Bernat Boronat, Lucas Bernardo da Silva, Denk neni, Mustapha Eaisaouiyen, Dorota Márföldi-Matejová, DJ ANTO
Cultuur en Campus Putselaan, Putselaan 178, open to all: free entrance
Living Breathing Spaces invite you to the place where music & poetry across multiple backgrounds and genres meet and resonate through the space of Cultuur&Campus Putselaan, a recently renovated building intended as a space for cultural dialogue, community encounter and shared learning, a place that holds old memories and through Living Breathing Spaces opens up for the first time to the public, thus beginning to create new encounters and new memories.
This event invites you to reflect on naturally emerging questions: What kind of space do we want to create as artists and human beings living during this time in this world, meeting in the city of Rotterdam? What kind of space can hold both our imagination as artists and as human beings transformed into reality? What kind of places do we want our voices, our art and our experiences and newly created memories to be embodied within?
During this afternoon we will encounter music and poetry by multiple Rotterdam-based musicians and poets, each of them bringing their distinctive voice and creativity into Living Breathing Spaces.
We will meet the music performed by Lucas Bernardo da Silva, sharing the intimacy and the depth of solo violin music; we will encounter the words of Mustapha Eaisaouiyen, embodying the poetry deeply rooted in the lived stories and culture of the local community; we will be embraced by the music-created-in-the-moment by Lucija Gregov & Bernat Boronat, exploring and opening up the space through their cello & bass clarinet immersive conversations; we will be invited into the music world of Denk neni, combining hiphop and poetry into one lived expression of resistance and love.
We will be welcomed by Janneke Absil & Kim Bouvy, speaking from the experience of the many created local initiatives and collective projects; and we will be guided through the spaces by Dorota Márföldi-Matejová, living her imagination and dreams through her poems and songs performed on various flutes.
This event is written & programmed by Dorota Matejová

A Station for Resources #03:
In the Wake of the Lost Hangout - a dialogue on techno-utopias and smart city imaginaries
By Angeliki Diakrousi and Shivano Raghoenathsingh
Recycle Resource Station/Grondstoffenstation, Afrikaanderplein 1
What is identified as noise, and for whom? How does its regulation affect access to public life? The Mosquito device, whose high-pitched tone predominantly affects people under 25, has been installed around the city by the Rotterdam municipality and various individuals or corporations. Its aim is to deter young people from loitering and making noise in public space as a response to complaints of disturbed residents who feel deprived of sleep and quietude in their homes.
Artist and architect Angeliki Diakrousi is inviting you to gather and hang-out at the Grondstoffenstation for a dialogue on the techno-utopias and smart city imaginaries envisioned in Rotterdam. Starting from the case of the Mosquito installations, we will share our thoughts and experiences and imagine further what a technological collective future could look like in a socially meaningful way. She will present her video work 'In the Wake of the Lost Hangout' that questions how technological applications contribute to the displacement of people and to the re-writing of ways of inhabiting. The video (created in collaboration with Geo Barcan) is exhibited at Brutus at the Wild Summer of Art, opening on 11 July brutus.nl/en/programme/on+view/wild+summer+of+art+2025/. The work is made possible by a financial contribution from CBK Rotterdam.
In addition, lecturer and researcher Shivano Raghoenathsingh will introduce us to his research on the ‘policing insect’ and its impact on the sense of belonging amongst Rotterdam’s youth.
Angeliki Diakrousi is an artist-designer and researcher with a background in architecture. Her work examines spatial politics around architecture and technology and she is involved in collective research on imagining computational infrastructures otherwise. She is a former member of Varia (vvvvvvaria.org/), has taught at Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and has done research for The Institute for Technology in the Public Interest in Brussels. In 2022-2023 she presented her work 'Hunting Mosquitos' at TENT Rotterdam in the group exhibition 'There is no party so noisy as the one you’re not invited to' curated by Linnea Semmerling. The project was realised with support from the Creative Industries Fund NL. More info: w-i-t-m.net/hunting-mosquitos
Shivano Raghoenathsingh is a lecturer in the Bachelor's program of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences at Utrecht University. He has conducted research for the University of Amsterdam, De Volkskrant, the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and Erasmus University, focusing on themes such as gentrification, urban allochtone youth, postcolonial studies, plural policing, racialization, and migration.
