Wasteland Festival: Weather Report - plastic fall: installatie

Deze dynamische installatie laat je een oneindige afvalstroom in haar pure kracht ervaren en een toevallige schoonheid ontdekken in de materie die we weggooien.
In de afgelopen 30 jaar is de wereldwijde afvalproductie meer dan verdubbeld - en ze blijft groeien. Deze stromen bereiken zelfs de meest afgelegen uithoeken van de wereld, zorgen voor ontwrichting en transformeren omgevingen. Maar sommige van deze stromen ondersteunen en ondersteunen paradoxaal genoeg de lokale veerkracht.
Wanneer ze worden ingezet door gemeenschappen en horizontale organisaties, kunnen afvalstromen een waardevolle hulpbron worden. Het werk van het Grondstoffenstation van de Afrikaanderwijk Coöperatie biedt een krachtig voorbeeld van dit soort oogst. Het vormt een alternatief, gemeenschapsgestuurd afvalbeheersysteem dat helpt om zowel materiële als financiële waarde in de buurt te laten circuleren.
Elke woensdag en zaterdag vliegen plastic zakken hier door de lucht met de Afrikaandermarkt - wat zowel verontrustende als poëtische taferelen oplevert. En toch wordt een deel van de energie van deze turbulente stroom opgevangen, omgeleid en gebruikt om levens te ondersteunen.

This dynamic installation allows you to experience an unending stream of waste in its sheer power, and to spot some accidental beauty in the matter we cast aside.
Over the past 30 years, global waste production has more than doubled - and continues to grow. These streams reach even the most remote corners of the world, bringing disruption and transforming environments. But some of them, paradoxically, support and sustain local resilience.
When harnessed by communities and horizontal organisations, waste streams can become a valuable resource. The work of the Grondstoffenstation of the Afrikaanderwijk Cooperative offers a powerful example of this kind of harvesting. It forms an alternative, community-driven waste management system that helps keep both material and financial value circulating within the neighbourhood.
Every Wednesday and Saturday, plastic bags fly through the air here with the Afrikaandermarkt - creating scenes both unsettling and poetic. And yet, some of the energy of this turbulent stream is captured, redirected, and used to sustain lives.
