Take a breath, sis! Workshop with Kanvie Winter

Public program #1 with Kanvie Winter

Take a breath, sis!

On Saturday March 25th we warmly invite Black women to exhale what no longer serves them!

This session is a practical extension of the exhibition SELFHOOD: A Manifestation of Wholeness by Aqueene Wilson. Where the exhibition hones in on individual documentations of Black women, the workshop relies on communal practices of restoration in its many forms.

For this session we have invited Kanvie Winter. She is African Liberian, born and raised in the Netherlands. Kanvie is passionate about dance, The Most Highest Creator, self expression and children. During the week she teaches in elementary and high school, which uplifts her spirit by being in a learning environment. Kanvie organizes "movement & meditation = medicine" sessions, always filled with powerful energy.

The workshop will start off with a guided meditation and prayer. After collectively engaging with body movement exercises, we will have a collective conversation about Black womanhood. By making space for our stories, (ancestral) practices, and rest, we actively contribute to the durability of Black womanhood.

So pull up with your softness to move, meditate, breathe and daydream in a space surrounded by the works of Aqueene Wilson.

Date: March 25th, 2023
